There are a million ways to be entombed in silence. A young man at Grace Hospital expressed it as "fighting a battle that no one can see."
My childhood was entombed in a culture/society which left all children to the good/bad of parental authority.
There are millions of stories of people coerced, frightened, shamed, beaten into silence. If we ever find a voice and dare to speak we become lowest of the creatures upon the earth, lower than the cruelty which formed us.
I have begun to speak out. Let me be the lowest of the low among family. I am shunned, scorned, and "out in the cold" because I am me.
I am called crazy
I am told (twice in two weeks) "get over yourself."
Get over it, move on, bury it, get a life, put it behind you... all extra padding in my tomb of silence.
My first attempt at freedom was my book "Entombed in Silence" self published on Lulu and available on Amazon.com. We need more voices.
